4 Lenten Suppers of Soup, Salad, Bread and Dessert

March 2, 2022 by St Mary Anne Admin

We forge ahead with
4 Lenten Suppers!

We welcome the return of our popular Lenten Soup Suppers and will finally watch and discuss “The Grace of Les Misérables” the video discussion series we canceled at the start of the pandemic in 2020.

Victor Hugo’s Les Misérables is a truly epic story. Whether you’ve tackled the 1,400 page 19th century novel, witnessed the Broadway musical and memorized the soundtrack, or seen several screen adaptations of it, you already know the power of the story. In the 4-week study, using a DVD and workbook, “The Grace of Les Misérables”, author and pastor Matt Rawle, dives into six ideals found in the story–grace, justice, poverty, revolution, love and hope–each represented by a character in Hugo’s story. As these imperfect and relatable characters interact, we can see how these ideals work together (perhaps even in spite of each other) out in the world.

The author brings us to the intersection of Church and Pop Culture by drawing parallels between the iconic story and musical and our Christian calling, inspiring us to both understand our faith and live it out in the world.

We plan 4 Lenten Suppers of soup, salad, bread and dessert in the Parish Hall.

Please sign-up after services this Sunday or RSVP to the church office at office@stmaryanne.org or 410-287-5522. Please let us know if you can make a pot of delicious soup, salad or dessert for the evening study.

Come join us on Wednesday, March 9, 23, 30 and April 6 from 6-7:30PM. There’s no homework!

A Service of Healing, Hope and Health

December 10, 2021 by St Mary Anne Admin

Truly, who among us doesn’t need prayer?

Sadly, we know of many parishioners and family members who suffer from critical or chronic illness, depression, anxiety, grief or loss.
We believe in the power of prayer to bring healing, comfort, hope, and/or relief because Jesus the Great Comforter and Healer said in Matthew 18:20,”For where two or three gather in my name, there am I with them.” During this Advent season, let’s gather more than “two or three” and pray for those who are in need of healing, hope, and comfort.

Join Father John and the Pastoral Care Team for an Advent Evening Prayer Service on Thursday, December 16 at 6:30PM in the church.

Please attend this special service of healing, health and hope, and invite others to join us too, for truly, who among us doesn’t need prayer?

Women helping Women

November 29, 2021 by St Mary Anne Admin

As we eagerly await the birth of the Christ child, we are reminded that this is the season of giving.

With this in mind, we will participate in a “Women Helping Women” initiative. We contacted a local women’s shelter to see how we can help their clients. They would appreciate our help this Christmas season, since many of these women are in need of support.

So, at our annual ECW Christmas Soup Dinner, we ask you to donate a new robe (any size) and/or a pair of slippers. A warm robe and slippers may bring a woman some comfort during a difficult time.

Please bring this comfort gift to the ECW Christmas Soup Dinner on December 1 at 6:00PM in the Parish Hall.

Giving Tree

November 29, 2021 by St Mary Anne Admin

As in years past, our Giving Tree project provides parishioners an opportunity to make Christmas a little brighter for a local child.

Here’s how it works:

  • You choose a child’s age and gender from our list.
  • We give you a modest wish list of clothing (with sizes), toys and/or books–along with an empty box to fill.
  • You purchase the gifts and place them unwrapped in the empty box.
  • You return the box to the Parish Hall on Sunday, December 12 for distribution to the child’s school.

If you want to help a child, please see Linda Hunt this Sunday after the church service or contact her via email at presleysnana2@gmail.com
