About Us

Shield_of_the_US_Episcopal_Church_svgSt. Mary Anne’s is an Episcopal Parish.

We are a parish in the Diocese of Easton, a constituent Diocese of the Episcopal Church.  The Episcopal Church is the current day descendant of the Church of England which was brought to Maryland in Colonial times. Often we are seen as a “bridge” between Protestantism and Roman Catholicism  – our worship and sacraments are similar to the Roman Catholic Church, but our organization, theology and social teachings are closer to mainline Protestant churches.  To learn more about the Episcopal Church, click here.

Our Mission

We gather in the name of Jesus Christ to worship God; to invite all into a community of friendship, love and respect; and to nurture and strengthen our faith. We go out to share God’s Spirit and to live God’s love; to be faithful stewards of God’s creation; and to help those in need.

Everliving God, whose will it is that all should come to you through your Son Jesus Christ: Inspire our witness to him, that all may know the power of forgiveness and the hope of his resurrection; who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever. Amen. (The Book of Common Prayer, p 816)
