Family Train Day was a great success! We made about $1500 for St. Vincent’s School in Haiti, and perhaps equally important, once again St. Mary Anne’s demonstrated its hospitality to many people from the local community!
Rooted in the past, reaching for the future
A SMA Men’s Group called “2:42” is making a return to the parish! This group promotes fellowship, learning and service and is based on Acts 2:42: “They devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and to fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer.”
Nancy and Tim Leizear won 3rd Place in the non-profit float category at the Cecil County Christmas Parade on December 3rd! This adorable float, sitting on top of their golf cart, advertised our Christmas Cookie Walk for the following Saturday! Tim wore a Gingerbread costume that day and followed the float. Nancy has been wearing the prize ribbon ever since!
The Rotating Homeless Shelter (January 23-February 4th). As in previous years, we are coordinating efforts with The Meeting Ground to provide assistance to the area homeless. We will be responsible for evening meals from January 23rd – February 6th; and responsible for staffing from January 30th – February 6th. Daily hours: 4:30 pm- 7:30 am. Broken out into 4 shifts per day. Additional coverage needed on weekends to cover for van drivers. Please consider how you can help this important ministry. An informational planning meeting for all volunteers will be on Sunday, January 29th. Contact Mark Dobbins at marktdobbins@comcast.net for more information and to sign-up.
St. Mary Anne’s Mission Committee has hosted a model train show in the Parish Hall for the past ten years. Model train enthusiasts chase the cold winter blues away with their passion for model railroading. Visitors have been treated to up to nine working model train layouts featuring Standard gauge, O gauge, S, HO, and N gauge trains. The five-hour free event attracts dozens of visitors. Through the sale of raffle tickets and refreshments, in addition to donations, recent events have raised in excess $1400.00 for St. Vincent’s School for the Handicapped in Haiti. Kids Play Area; Dining Car with a la carte menu; FREE ADMISSION.
