Lenten Supper Series

March 10, 2025 by St Mary Anne Admin

This Lent, ponder the themes of justice, poverty, freedom, and love.

Join us for our Wednesday evening Lenten Supper series.

We’ll be reading, The Final Days, A Lenten Journey through the Gospels by Matt Rawle. We’ll also watch a short DVD followed by discussion.

Here’s a synopsis;

The four New Testament Gospels aren’t the same story, but they offer the same Resurrection hope. Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John devote most of their story detailing Jesus’ last week in Jerusalem, all highlighting Jesus’ triumphant entry into the city, the suffering and humiliation of the cross, and the empty tomb come Sunday morning, but the stories they tell aren’t quite the same.

Each Gospel offers a different lens through which we understand Jesus’ Passion. One portrait reveals Jesus to be in control, while another emphasizes his suffering. In one story Jesus offers hope to the thief on the cross, and in another Jesus only receives derision. These different perspectives reveal an abundant, diverse, and complementary picture of God’s work in the suffering, death, and resurrection of Jesus.

Our 4 session Wednesday evening schedule is as follows; March 12, 26, April 2, April 9. Each session will run from 5:30pm-7:00pm.

We’ll need donations of a hearty Soup, Casserole, Salad, Bread and Dessert. Sign up by calling Valerie in the Parish Office at 410-287-5522 or by email at office@stmaryanne.org

Books are available for a suggested donation of $15. You may also purchase an E-book on Amazon.
