- The church basement was flooded with a few inches of water (see picture). Tim Leizear and Father John pumped it out after the storm. The basement floor is still wet and fans are working to dry it.
- Some church roof shingles appear to be loose, so we are contacting a contractor.
- The other buildings on the church campus did not sustain damage.
Baptisms
We can now Baptize! |
Many babies were born in the past year and are not baptized. So, we are pleased to offer the Sacrament of Holy Baptism now in two safe and comfortable options:
1. Outdoors (weather permitting) during a traditional Sunday service with the Homily and Eucharist and music. 2. In the church, with a small private gathering of close family and friends. This option excludes a Homily, the Eucharist and music, and focuses only on the Baptismal service. Indoor baptisms can be scheduled Monday-Saturday but excludes Sundays. Please contact Father John if you want to schedule a baptism! |
Return of Recovery Groups
We invited our Recovery Groups (NA, AlAnon & AA) to return to St. Mary Anne’s for weekly meetings.
They will meet outside in our churchyard, and will follow their protocols for social distancing, etc.
The NA group meets on Sunday and Friday evenings; the AA group meets on Thursday evenings; AlAnon gathers on Friday evenings.
Zoom Movie/Bible Study about Racism
An ongoing conversation about racism is needed. We as a church, following Christ, are called to love God and love our neighbors–meaning all people.
In order to take this conversation deeper, we are beginning an online group bible study discussion utilizing the movie, “Just Mercy”, released in 2019.
On June 15, Carol Weisel and Janice Flood will facilitate the discussion. The plan is watch “Just Mercy” individually, and then set a time to discuss it online together. A curriculum from Grace Episcopal Church, Silver Spring, MD will guide the discussion. The movie is now available on many online venues.
Here is a synopsis of “Just Mercy”: After graduating from Harvard, Bryan Stevenson heads to Alabama to defend those wrongly condemned or those not afforded proper representation. One of his first cases is that of Walter McMillian, who is sentenced to die in 1987 for the murder of an 18-year-old girl, despite evidence proving his innocence. In the years that follow, Stevenson encounters racism and legal and political maneuverings as he tirelessly fights for McMillian’s life. Stars: Michael B. Jordan, Jaime Foxx & Brie Larson

Our Virtual Choir is Growing!
We now have 12 parishioners participating in our Virtual Choir and since it is virtual, we have room for plenty more. If you enjoy singing, but are a little shy or don’t want to make a big commitment, this is the perfect way to participate.
Alex Bi or Carol Weisel can give you the details and walk you through the easy way to join in. Alex plays the week’s recorded hymn during our Sunday Service Offertory.
All the sung and recorded hymns are now attached to our YouTube Channel. Click on the links in this announcement to hear them. They are ordered with the most recent being at the top, so you can hear how the choir keeps growing each week!
