Confirmation Classes for our youth begin next Sunday, March 8th. Interested youth in middle school and high school are welcome to begin the education process. They will meet for ten Sundays (excluding Palm Sunday and Easter), 10AM-Noon, in the Conference Room (upstairs in Parish Center Offices). At the conclusion of the lessons, they will determine their readiness for Confirmation with the Bishop during his annual visit on Sunday, May 31st.
The Youth Group will make Christmas ball ornaments on their Zoom call on Sunday, December 13 from 3-4.
All supplies will be provided (the balls, feathers, jingle bells, sparkles and Santa hats). The supplies will be ready for pick up on Friday, December 11 in the youth group box on the Parish Center back porch. If you have any questions, please contact Marlene Coffey firstname.lastname@example.org, Janice Flood email@example.com or Susan Zerr firstname.lastname@example.org. Please try to RSVP so there are enough supplies in your envelope.
Here’s a children’s activity handout from Virginia Theological Seminary:
Our Youth Group, leaders and parents, served up pancakes at our Annual Shrove Tuesday Pancake Supper. We had a full-house of visitors and parishioners who enjoyed delicious pancakes and sausages. Donations exceed $800.00 for the Youth Group!
We even had Brigid, Sister Teresa Irene’s service dog, stop by! (Brigid is pictured with Father John and Kaylia).
In 2017, St. Mary Anne’s collaborated with the Flood family and began a scholarship program for high school seniors called, The “Dream Big – Leave a Legacy” college scholarship fund. It is designed for youth with big dreams who may need financial assistance to attend college.
Initially funded by a generous donation from the Flood family, this scholarship fund continues to slowly grow with additional contributions and interest. To date, two parishioner high school seniors have received scholarships: Ethan Kyger and Hannah Sadler. It is our hope to increase the fund so we can award additional scholarships.
To that end, the Scholarship Committee and the 2:42 Men’s Group are co-sponsoring a Chili Cook-off – on Saturday, March 28, 5-7PM, Parish Hall. Proceeds from this event will benefit our scholarship fund and our students with “big dreams”.
