Rooted in the past, reaching for the future
ECW MEETING THIS SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 24, AT 9am IN THE PARISH HOUSE.
Time to form a team and get on your walking shoes for the Annual CROP Hunger Walk! This year’s walk will be on Sunday, October 2nd and once again, start at SMA. Registration is at 1:00PM and the walk will start at 2:00.
The first CROP Hunger Walk was in the 1960s. Now more than 2,000 communities across the U.S. join in CROP Hunger Walks each year. A unique aspect of CROP Hunger Walks is that Church World Service doesn’t receive all of the money raised. Up to 25% of the money donated is given to local hunger fighting agencies, including our own Outreach Pantry!

Don’t forget that this afternoon is an opportunity to meet the four nominees for Bishop of the Diocese of Easton. Their bios are now listed athttp://eastonbishopsearch.org/nominations–2/. Parishioners, and others from around the diocese, will have the opportunity to meet and learn more about each nominee during this short visit. The meeting will be held in the Parish Hall and refreshments will be served. The meeting starts at 2:45 and will end at 4:00PM.
We plan to start a Lectionary Bible Study program again in the near future. This small group will meet in the Conference Room of the Parish House and will be held during the time between services. We will supply Bibles if needed and the Quarterly Study Material for use. A lectionary is a list of scriptural texts (called “lections”) recommended for daily use in worship or study, in our case on each Sunday. The format of The Revised Common Lectionary Bible Study is designed so that people with very little teaching or Bible study experience can lead a group through the weekly lessons. If you would like to participate either as a study leader or be in the Group, please see Fr. John or call the Church Office.
Due to our Pentecost services, Baptism and afternoon music program with Steve McBride, our Director of Music, we will postpone our Episcopal/Anglican 101 series for this week. This series will begin on June 5 at 9:15 in the Parish House.
