Spring Churchyard Clean-up!

March 9, 2017 by St Mary Anne Admin

yard cleanupSt. Mary Anne’s will have a Spring Churchyard Clean-up on Saturday, April 1st beginning at 9:00AM.
Bring your rakes, garden gloves and pruners! We will gather limbs, branches, and other debris from the grounds around the rectory, parish house and church. If you can bring a truck to help transport debris to the landfill on RT. 7, please email Rick Waterhouse.
Mark your calendars and then come join us, as we tidy up the property and make it ready for Easter!

Church Yard Clean-up

November 17, 2016 by St Mary Anne Admin

cleaning kidsThe trees weren’t too eager to shed their leaves this fall, so our church clean-up was delayed. We plan to rake leaves on Saturday, November 26th. Please bring a rake and gloves, and we will provide the coffee and donuts at 8:00-10:00AM. Many hands can make this light work!

Cemetery Committee Meeting

August 4, 2016 by St Mary Anne Admin

cemeteryThe new Cemetery Committee will be having their first meeting on Saturday, August 13th from 9:00-11:00AM.  The group will first walk around the cemetery, and then go to the Parish Office for a short meeting.
Teams will be formed to work on all the areas: history, restoration, repair, landscaping, rules and regulations, signage, and working with our lawn-mowing service, etc.
The following mission will guide the committee: If someone visits an historic country church and burial ground like Saint Mary Anne’s and finds it well cared for and clearly prayed in, this is itself a great witness. So time and money spent caring for such a holy place should not in principle be regarded as a waste of love, time and money, but ongoing mission to a sacred trust.
Remove not the ancient landmark, which thy ancestors have set.  Proverbs 22:28

Cemetery Committee Being Formed

July 22, 2016 by St Mary Anne Admin

We have a sacred trust with our Churchyard and Cemetery. Loved ones from long ago and recent past are buried in holy ground.

A short stroll around the ground will reveal gravestones
that are broken, lying flat on the grass; some stones have shifted, and grave markers and gravestones have sunk below grade. Some monuments have been cleaned improperly and have been damaged. Others need a good proper cleaning to be rid of dirt, lichens, moss and other biological life that attacks the surface.
In addition, loved ones at times decorate the memorials with plants, trees, shrubs, plastic flowers and other items that are not approved according to cemetery rules.

We’re looking for a few people interested in restoration, preservation and history. We are hoping to have people interested in learning about the proper care and maintenance of a
historic site, and being trained to assist as needed. In the event that you would like to serve with this group, please call Joan in our Church Office.
