Young Performers Concert

February 3, 2023 by St Mary Anne Admin

Last Sunday, parishioners and the public were treated to a phenomenal Young Performers Concert at our church! The violin\viola students accompanied professional string musicians and performed classical selections from Vivaldi and Tchaikovsky, Mozart and more! The young students ranged in age from 9 to 16, but you never would have known it by their incredible talent and poise.

String Studio faculty Daniel Seymour and Joel Alarcon, and other string musicians who played, are ramping up the St. Mary Anne’s String Studio and hope to have more concerts and more opportunities for these young students to flourish. We hope you can attend future performances and support this music ministry effort!

Donations to grow music scholarships are always appreciated. You can donate online here, please put SMA String Studio in the memo.

Our Senior Ministry is Growing

February 3, 2023 by St Mary Anne Admin

The Autumn Lake Service

Each month, Father John and Eucharistic Visitor Linda Gibeck hold a service at Autumn Lake (formerly known as Calvert Healthcare). Typically, they’ve had five or six residents (a few are SMA parishioners) attend. Our service is now growing! The January attendance was 18!

This is a wonderful growing senior ministry!

St. Mary Anne’s Mission Committee Update

February 3, 2023 by St Mary Anne Admin

The Mission Committee committed to another 8 month’s of meals for the Paris Foundation, beginning in April 2023. We will provide meals on the first Tuesdays of April, May, July, August, October, and November (2023), and January and February (2024).

To assist with this effort, we need volunteers to sign up to join a “team” of 2 bakers (50 desserts each) and 5 sandwich makers (20 sandwiches each). Each team provides the food for some number of months (depending on how many volunteers we get) on a rotating schedule.

We hope you will consider joining us in support of The Paris Foundation as they help supply food. The Paris Foundation is a Christian non-profit ministry in Elkton that serves the poor and homeless.

To help volunteer, Email Rick Waterhouse: wate6585@zoominternet.net

Did you enjoy your History class?

February 3, 2023 by St Mary Anne Admin

We are looking for a few history enthusiasts to work with our resident archivist, Nancy Ball, and help document our St. Mary Anne’s history.

As part of this working group, you’ll learn more about the church’s construction in 1743. Discover that Captain John Smith explored the North East Creek. You’ll uncover fascinating details about former Rectors, such as the Rev. Enoch Miller, who fought at the battle of Gettysburg for the Union, and the Rev. Giles Cook, the last surviving staff member of General Robert E. Lee. Our history is fascinating but we need your help to review, research and develop a written history.

A St. Mary Anne’s History Group is now forming and will meet this Thursday at 10:00AM in the Parish Office Conference Room (upstairs in the Parish Center). This is a working group–and not a lecture–so please come prepared to dig in!
